Time is of the essence! We need to hear from you during the planning stage of your treatment. Gathering hair for your hairpiece needs to happen before your hair begins to fall out.

Depending on your style, it can be as quick as a few hours. If you live in the area and come to the salon for your halo, I have you head out in the morning. We spend some time talking about what you can expect from this process. The hair is gathered. If you haven't started chemo yet, I can usually leave enough hair for a cute pixie cut until it falls out. If you hair has already begun to shed, I can clipper it closer to your head. I do not advise shaving the head. That can lead to "folliculitis", an inflamation of the hair follicules. Then, off you go to enjoy the sights of Hood River and our lovely valley. There are many great places for lunch, fun shops, wine tasting, brewery tours, hiking trails.........You come back a couple of hours later so I can custom fit and trim your halo. Some styles that are more complex with a lot of face framing layers, very short or super curly hair can often need more time to build. On those occasions you may have to return on another day for the final fitting and trimming.

Sometimes we have extra donated hair on hand to fill in. Often we've had friends or family members jump into the fray and donate some of their own hair. I can usually match your texture and color so that you keep looking like you!

The price on halos vary depending on your current style, whether I have to source out additional hair to build your halo and if you come to Abbreviations or do this via the mail. Once I get your information about the type of hair you have and how you would like it to look hanging from your hats or scarves, I can then send you a link with prices that will give you a better estimate on cost.
